$30.00 rf001 Charlotte Amalie
this is a hand-signed 16"x20" lithograph (11.5"x15" image size)of the original painting entitled Charlotte Amalie which depicts the charming, picturesque harbour when entering the Caribbean seaport of St.Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
$30.00 rf002 Caribbean Blues
This 16"x20"(image-size 11.5"x15") hand-signed lithograph depicts a playful undersea scenario that might exist in the breathtaking marine environment of the Caribbean Sea.
$375.00 rf003 Parrots At Play
This 22"x32" (image-size) hand-signed limited edition (100) giclee on canvas depicts pairs of tropical birds, namely Military Macaws and Sulfur-Crested Cockatoos, playing in an orchid-filled environment set in a neutral gray backdrop.
$1,850.00 rt004 Blue and Golds
I completed this painting just before Hurricane Marilyn unleashed it's ugly fury on St. Thomas in 1995. I had a sense of foreboding while painting this, hence the gray background but it was meant to instill a sense of surprise in a very quiet and magestic way as these birds can possess at times. The beauty of the blue's and gold's in the painting dominates the canvas, while bringing attention to the interaction of the birds.
$1,800.00 rt005 Mary's Bromiliads
Mary, a good client and avid collector of my work wanted to memorialize her prize bromiliads in a very dramatic way. I chose the black backdrop to amplify the vividness and textures of the plant. Mary was very happy with the results. I often will be called upon to paint someone's favorite plants to give them prominence in the home environment.
$2,500.00 rt006 Budgee
This is a dignified portrait of my cat, Budgee, who later consumed the parakeet in the somewhat surreal background. It wasn't that he caught the bird, rather, I presented it to him after it died of natural causes. Budgee had been watching him for years through a glass door! I have memorialized other clients pets in similar ways, using the information from the client. For example, a tourist once asked if would put her cat on the beach in St. Thomas looking at a lizard. I complied happily. In yet another painting,THE GIRLS, a portrait featuring sisters, I've added a dog who wasn't present and placed him into the painting as if he was there on vacation too!"
$2,175.00 rt007 Cabbage Palm Host
I had the great opportunity to study this tree which stood proudly in the backyard of our rented house in Ormond Beach, FL. I was truly fascinated by all the parasitic life that attached itself to this magnificent tree, adding color and dramatic movement as it spiraled up the geometric patterns of the palm. Sometimes, butterflies would fill the tree with more color as they fluttered around for moisture-nectar. Then, the fires came during the drought and I saw the tree a mere shadow of its former self as the drought forced all the growth out of the picture. I was so very happy I was able to pay tribute to it as I saw it in healthier times!
$600.00 rt008 Conures In The Wind
This original painting depicts the constant breezes that flowed through my studio. It was often forceful enough to make the windsock level at 45 degrees for long moments. My conure loved attacking that windsock. I used that provocation in this painting and multiplied my conure as if in a repeat pattern. I did this painting in oil on canvas. I prefer acrylics because I allergic to oil paint but every so often I go for it because I like the feel of oil paint and it's translucent qualities.
$1,800.00 rt009 White Bird
This is one of three original paintings I composed, that is, tropical plants on a black background on a linen support for dramatic effects. I did the painting so that the raw linen was left exposed on the edges as it was so beautiful and natural looking. I think this is a beautiful way to display a single plant and makes each subject stand alone.
$5,000.00 rt010 Where The Wild Things Are
This 48"x50" original painting on canvas features a favored but now deceased cat named Kitty who was lord of the yard and reigned despite the mocking birds above. I chose the Toucans but they are really not the mocking kind of birds but size helps convey the image of this cat holding his ground in the midst of taunting. It is filled with all the elements I loved to see every day when I lived in St. Thomas, that is, rocks covered with Christmas Orchids, grape tree leaves, lizards and plenty of blue sky and the sea as well.
$2,750.00 rf011 Dreams of Dolphins
This painting celebrates all things beautiful found in the Caribbean Sea and probably elsewhere. The deep aqua and cobalt waters are impressive when vivid tropical fish add their elements in such an engaging dance with the waters. The dolphins are signature playfulness and further complete this joyous presentation. I just returned from a vacation in St. Thomas and while snorkeling, was reminded just how inspired I am by the undersea world and it's other-worldliness which seemed familiar and welcoming to me. Truly a sight for sore eyes.
$800.00 rt012 The View
When driving on the peak of Cassi Hill, this view appears literally around the corner and I had to concentrate on driving, it is so distracting a view. Looking at this painting always forces a smile as I remember gleeful moments when I knew we were headed for the beach to windsurf in this view on a windy day.
$1,800.00 rt013 Lilies
This painting is one of three florals designed with the bold black background to enhance the shapes and colors of the lilies in particular. This effect makes the flowers pop to life. Dimensions are 21"x28", acrylic on linen.
$1,100.00 rt014 Two Macaws
One can imagine these two macaws in the jungle where they are most comfortable in the wild. I wanted to bring them to light in the dense growth of the jungle while focusing on the antics of the birds as they are playful in any circumstance. Dimensions are 30"x38", acrylic on linen.
$2,800.00 rt015 Waco
This original painting of a Waco biplane was quite a labor of love. When we pulled it from the hangar, I observed all the details by photographing each side of the plane. Then I assembled the painting as a drawing from the photos I took on that day. The background is really from Key West. When we were down there, I went wild photographing the many sunsets there so I had to use that in this painting. The dimensions of this painting are 50"x60", acrylic on canvas.
$2,550.00 rt016 Parrots 3
This was my first large painting of parrots done with the gold background and was well-received by several clients. I actually painted this again and again, hence Parrots 3. I enjoyed doing the shapes of the birds and florals set against the gold and it made for an elegant portrait of these magnificent creatures. The dimensions are 40"x48", acrylic on canvas.
$2,800.00 rt017 Parrot Study
This rather formal study of parrots and tropical flowers is classicly appointed and light in atmosphere. I have painted this study many times as it makes me feel good to paint it even over and over again. It's a feel good painting perhaps because all the elements in the painting are composed, tranquility reigns and the colors are soft and smooth. It is a painting designed to soothe and bathe the onlooker in it's light and levity. The dimensions of this painting are 36"x48", acrylic on canvas.
$2,100.00 rt018 Race Ready
Our entire family were avid windsurfers so we brought our boys and some other kids to the Dominican Republic to enter an international competition there in a village called Cabarete. We were struck by the variety of sails that were being rigged on that beach as shown here in the painting on the first day after our arrival. It was so magnificent to see all the countries being represented. This painting honors the day of that assembly of sails even though there was hardly enough wind to hold the race! The dimensions of this original painting are 30"x30", acrylic on canvas.
$1,800.00 rt019 Sharks
It's amazing that Sharks come in so many different shapes and sizes. This painting hosts the most common sharks that roam the seas in search of food and sustinence. They are very beautiful in their own right...very aerodynamic shape, sleek, smooth and full of surprises. Their thrashing movements to rip apart their food is noteworthy too. In any case, this was originally a design for a T-shirt I did for a company in NJ which sold to museums and zoos. I never got to have a shirt but I have the original painting which is still available for those who dare to own this collection of sharks! This original painting's dimensions are 27"x32", acrylic on Strathmore 100% rag paper.
$1,800.00 rt020 St. Augustine
This house is typical of the architecture in old St. Augustine in the heart of the village. I found it very charming. I gave it some space for the wildness of greenery and shrubs. A great Blue Heron walks by the front gate as I have seen so often here in Florida. The dimensions of this original painting are 20"x24", acrylic on canvas.
$5,000.00 rt021 View With Cat
This large painting is my muse. My focal point in the piece is really Black Kitty who was killed the day after I completed this work. He loved to stretch out his forepaw as seen here and even though his eyes are fixed on some object in the foreground, one doesn't really know what it is but we can be happy to be amused by the query and enjoy the rest of the painting insofar as it's vibrant elements allow us to set foot on the fantastic beach and gaze at the iguana! The dimensions of this original painting are 48" x 50", acrylic on canvas.
$1,800.00 rt022 Parrots At Play
This is the original painting from which the Parrots at Play giclee was made. It is really a celebration of my dear military macaw, Greenie, who loves to interact with people and as I have imagined here, other birds! The Christmas orchids grew in great profusion in our yard in St. Thomas and I liked weaving them into the fabric of the background. It is a tribute to beauty found in nature, particulary in the tropical realms. The dimensions of this painting are 30"x 38", acrylic on linen.
$4,000.00 rt023 Tarpon
This painting is almost like being there because Tarpon appear to be in a state of suspended animation, that is when they are not swarming for food! Nonetheless, their silvery, highly scaled skin shimmers in the water like no other creature. I tried to capture that effect here in this grouping of Tarpons. The dimensions of this original painting are 48" x60", acrylic on canvas.
$500.00 rt024 Tropical Cat
Wherever my cat Budgee is is a beautiful place but clearly when we lived in St. Thomas, the scenery made him stand out as he was surrounded by the elements he fit into so nicely such as the Bird of Paradise plant and shimmering blue sea. The dimensions of this original painting are 11"x14", acrylic on canvas.
$1,500.00 rf025 Charlotte Amalie(Original)
The town of Charlotte Amalie is located in St.Thomas, US Virgin Islands, an historically busy port of call and famous for it's international flavor. It is visited by many nations whether tourists or traders. It is truly a jewel as I see it. The town sits at the foothills of the fairly steep hills that surround it and it was a picture perfect opportunity to depict it in the way I chose to in this painting. Originally, this was commissioned by AH Riise, a department store there but the project fell through after the store suffered damage from hurricane Marilyn. The painting reflects the imagery so typical of that place and one can imagine that the sealife is really as is depected here, even though it is a polluted harbour! I loved to focus on the quaint little village with it's charming red roofs, That is the Danish influence from their occupation of the island in the last century. The place is teeming with history. It is very old world in so many respects. This original painting is 11.5"x 15", framed dimensions are 18"x21", acrylic on 100% Strathmore rag paper.
$1,500.00 rf026 Caribbean Blues (Original)
This 16x20 painting was originally commissioned by AH Riise Stores in St. Thomas, VI. It was one of four paintings to commemorate the lovely crystal-clear waters that embrace St. Thomas and features marine life. This original painting measures 18" x 21" framed (image is 11.5"x15") acrylic on 100% Strathmore rag paper.
$2,000.00 rf027 Garden Flowers
This 22"x29" acrylic on linen painting captures the elements of my garden last summer that made planting the bananas and passionfruit well worth the effort. Not only was my garden productive and flavorful but I was rewarded with this lasting image of my bounty.
$420.00 rf028 Stalking Cat
"Nuts" was legend in his time, know to leap from his home on a boat into the water to scale the steps of a neighboring boat wafting with the smell of baked turkey. He was the untimate pet stalker as well.
$2,000.00 rf029 Bananas and More...
This is a large acrylic on linen work that absorbed me for several months until all the elements I wished to arrange made it the visually intense painting I have done to date, I believe. I am totally captivated by bananas and have the privilege of watching them grow from the flowering stage. It is impossible for me to let them go as subjects. Within days, their weighted mass droops from the central stalk and with geometical precision, each row expands to expose rows of the beautiful baby fruit, encases in a magenta sheath. Very powerful visual expose
$1,600.00 RF30 Parrot Fantasy
This 28 x 34 painting shows of my very show off birds who love to preen and perform antics on all sorts of vegetation. In this case I chose to implant my beautiful flowers than I would care to submit to them as they would tear things up in a hurry. Nonetheless, the display of colors is a feast for the eye.
$200.00 rf31 Flowering Bananas
This 10"x12" depicts banana flowers bearing fruit. They are so interesting to watch as they grow from the pod stage into an outpouring of fingerlings which spiral down in great quantities, sometimes in the two hundred range. They are very beautiful, strongly geometrical and fascinating to watch as they grow to fruition.
$200.00 rf32 Shore Birds
This 10"x12" painting illustrates migratory birds in the fall, you can spot groups of these birds along the shore taking breaks from their migration patterns. When it gets even colder, they appreciate a hand out of bread pieces which they relish
